I did not become a vegetarian for my health, I did it for the health of the chickens.

Predator Safe & Solar Powered.

Currently only home to 3 hens and a rooster, soon we will be adding an additional 14 hens to complete the coop. We included into our build an auto-watering system via a rain barrel, ability to re-stock the feed from the exterior of the coop as well as a 4-bay roll-away nest box for the possibility of cleaner egg harvests. Powered currently from a single 100w solar panel the chicken coop is as low of maintenance enclosure really anyone could build.

Still our coop is not complete, there are a few changes we intend on making as well as finishing the exterior. We will continue to update as we progress so be sure to join our newsletter if you would like to be updated periodically of events in and around the meadows.

Building our Solar Powered, Predator Proof Chicken coop and Run

Building our Chicken Coop & Run

After countless hours of scouring the web I found A LOT of very cool chicken coop designs, however I had a hard time finding a chicken coop design that really sparked my interest and covered the main aspects of size and safety for our birds. I must have drawn up a dozen or so different designs before heading out to the local hardware store for supplies.

Brooding Chicks and other Poultry

It is an amazing experience to raise your own poultry from a young age. Either bought or hatched watching something grow quite literally in front of your eyes developing into an adult is a remarkable process.

Like most farm-animals chickens and other poultry present a messy dilemma. Not only the waste, growing chickens will leave a film of “chicken dust” it seems everywhere in the room the brooder is placed.
